Approach

As a board-certified psychiatrist trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, my focus is on gaining a holistic understanding of who you are and what drives you in order to fully explore and evaluate your concerns.

I have experience working with a wide range of mental health issues or diagnoses, such as anxiety and depression. However, whether or not you have a diagnosis, my goal is to address broader, long-term measures of happiness or success. This may include having successful relationships, improved sense of self and confidence, emotional stability, improved work performance, creativity, negotiating past traumatic experiences, and navigating difficult decisions and life transitions (such as early adulthood, parenthood, medical illness, loss).

Psychosomatic Medicine:

In addition, I have specialized training in addressing the mental health concerns of patients with medical issues, such as cancer, pre- or post-partum women, women struggling with infertility, and HIV/AIDS. Whether you had a pre-existing mental health concern or are simply adjusting to a change in your physical body, navigating medical issues can be challenging. My background in medicine has taught me that the mind and the body are inextricably linked, and caring for your mind produces far-reaching benefits. I can help support you as you navigate the medical system, diagnoses, medical appointments, symptoms, side effects, and treatments. This may include managing psychiatric medications for those who want to avoid interactions with other, often complicated, medication regimens.
